CBP, AOC, and lies…

So, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tours (or refuses to tour, depending on who you believe) a CBP detention facility, and has a hysterical meltdown over….we’re not sure what, actually. The conditions? The agents? The heat? The voices in her head?

In a court of law, credibility makes or breaks testimony. AOC has built a nice history of blown credibility with outright false statements, crying at parking lots, and generally running her mouth without knowing anything about which she speaks. And now, we’re supposed to take this “drinking from the toilet” nonsense at face value? Oh, and the agents were meaaaannnnn to her. Give me a break. I’m positive the faciliy has cameras. Let’s see the video. Or would she rather avoid that because like so many officer body cams, it would tell us all what really happened, which wouldn’t exactly jibe with what she SAYS happened…

I have challenged AOC and various Dems on Twitter more times than I can count to acknowledge the human trafficking issue at the border. She won’t. Doesn’t have the courage, because that would expose this whole border crap as a political narrative. Here are the facts:

The policy of separating “families” is a misnomer. Children are separated from accompanying adults when the adult cannot provide proof of parental relationship or guardianship. Why? Because between 60 and 80 percent of accompanied minors at the southern border are accompanied by human traffickers, you twits! And the policy WAS started under Obama, and it was and still is a damn good one! But the left won’t acknowledge that. It doesn’t help their political cause. A 30 second search of Google will lead you to a number of videos of Obama and his people warning about children at the border and human trafficking. It’s one of the few things he got right, and he got it really right.

Now, are conditions at the centers less than ideal? Yep. Most places trying to process more than their capacity are. Whose fault is that? The party trying to stem the overwhelming flow of illegals over the border, or the party actually encouraging it? The overcrowding at these centers sits squarely in the laps of the Democratic Party and its far-left moonbat wing.

But…Asylum!!! Ok, asylum. There are over a half dozen US embassies in Mexico where one can apply for asylum. But asylum doesn’t mean what the left thinks it means.

Now, a couple of thoughts on the other side. I agree with the viewpoint that Trump might be better served by trying to help the origin countries than by cutting funding. It would be far more preferable if we could help make these hell hole countries (yes, I’ve been to most of them) places where their people want to stay. But guess what? Most of those countries are run by dictators so corrupt that very little of US aid money actually goes anywhere but their pockets. The solution? Forcing regime change, possibly via military action, to install leaders who will actually use the money to benefit the people. But, no the left doesn’t want that either.  Again, that fiasco is the fault of the left.

As for the supposed Facebook group of Border Patrol agents, I’m sure it probably exists, but I’m not sure how many agents actively contribute. But here’s the thing. Everyone on that group is an idiot for putting anything like that on social media, and they deserve the blowback.  It’s the type of thing one vents in an after shift conversation over a few cold ones, not on the Internet. Also from experience, no one who deals with this crap on a daily basis can help forming  a less than admiring opinion of a lot of these people. I’ve dealt with a number of MS-13 and so forth over the years, and I’d just as soon throw them over a cliff. And another thing AOC and her sycophants won’t tell you is how accurate Trump is when he lists the scum that does come in over the border. Dealing with those people be they illegals or citizen criminals is a hazard of every law enforcement job. But the real measure of  an officer is how he acts on the job, not what he posts on social media. The left knows this, because they do the exact same thing on social media. It’s called hypocrisy. Well…not really, because they act that way in public as well, such as throw drinks and spit on people. But that’s another post…

Years ago. I worked with an officer who off-duty persona was just this side of the Klan. He wasn’t a member as far as I know, but you couldn’t tell by hearing him talk after hours. But oddly enough, he treated minorities of all colors – criminals and other officers and citizens alike – with respect on and off the job every time I saw him encounter one. He has a meritorious service and lifesaver award for risking his life to save a black teenager from a gang gunfight. I saw that happen. Point? It isn’t what people think, or even say that really matters…it’s what they do. I’m not surprised some of the CBP folks have developed some animosity towards some of the people they see come across and sully our country, and they’re frustrated and overwhelmed because of inaction by the government to stop it.

Then along comes Ms High and Mighty AOC, who has a history of maligning and slandering them with outright lies, and calling for abolishment of their jobs? I hope she didn’t expect the Welcome Wagon.

It’s high time the left stopped the histrionics about cages and camps and separating families and started being part of the solution instead of the problem. But they won’t, because “Trump bad man”…and they are blinded by hatred.

So, let’s see the video. If AOC’s version is accurate, heads should roll. If not, and I’ll place a sizable bet on that….the CBP union and the officers involved should take legal action. Right now.

Liberal Evil

I’m seriously beginning to wonder if there isn’t some sort of supernatural biblical vibe about this whole liberal thing. Some of these people are utterly devoid of reason and logic. The latest abortion bill in Virginia is a prime example. These people are evil. Some of them on the order of historically evil. Something going on beyond our reasoning seems like the only possible explanation at times.  Anyway, several attempted debates with the loony left reveal a pattern when trying to debate…which is admittedly a lost cause most of the time. Here’s basically how it goes: They ignore the logical or factual fallacies in their argument, try and pull you off topic, accuse you of saying or not saying stuff that’s clearly provable by looking up the Twitter thread or whatever, then begin personal attacks. If you don’t take that bait, you will get a snarky comment followed by being blocked…so they don’t have to see your reply, I’m guessing.

But back to the biblical thing…In the very first days of Democratic control, they have attempted to remove God from the oath of office (That WAS voted down, in all fairness), passed a barbaric abortion law in New York, and almost passed a yet even more barbaric law in Virginia…one backed by the KKK- friendly Democratic Governor. What’s next? Will they allow new mothers a “3-day test drive” like the car dealers do?  So you can bring your baby back to the hospital and have it killed if within 3 days you decide motherhood isn’t for you? Sounds ridiculous, right? Well, so did killing a child who had just been born just a few years ago.

As I tweeted a few days ago…if the killing of newborns isn’t enough to take up arms against, what is?

Random Thoughts

I used to call posts of this type ‘Random Fire”…and I probably will again. But not today.

Jim Acosta:

Yes, he did commit assault. The video clearly shows him blocking down the intern’s arm with his forearm. The offense of assault is defined a bit differently from state to state, but actual injury is never required, and the offense also includes “offensive contact”. A minor case? Very. Would it result in a conviction? Probably not, even if she chose to press charges. A criminal offense? Absolutely.  An arrest would be valid. I don’t really blame CNN and Acosta for denying it…that’s what criminals usually do :). But Sarah Sanders and The White House were absolutely right to pull his press pass. Hopefully permanently. The guy’s a jerk.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg:

Fell and broke her ribs and is in the hospital. I wish her a speedy recovery, and am touched by he left’s sudden concern for her health. I’m sure they’d be just as upset if she were a conservative judge (eye roll).

California shooting:

Putting aside my utter astonishment that this could possibly happen in the leftist paradise of California, with their totally sensible and effective gun laws (eye roll #2), I have two thoughts:

This is based on current news reports that the shooter was a Marine:

One, I waited for it and was not surprised to learn this guy was already on law enforcement’s radar, and once again disappointed that no intervention was done on a guy who obviously had mental / PTSD issues. It is liberal madness to keep these folks in society. I’m all for bringing back live-in mental health facilities. But no, we have to coddle people that obviously need serious help AND removed from society until they are no longer a danger to themselves and others, all in the name of political correctness.

There is also a report he was ” Middle Eastern”. If that’s true, good riddance.

While I’m not 100% behind some of President Trump’s Tweets, or ummmm…lack of decorum at times, it’s hardly unique through history, but admittedly there hasn’t been anyone in modern history since Johnson who was so…so…free with his words. I don’t think the current generation knows how to take it, being raised on Clinton and Obama’s smooth, silky BS. Frankly, I am quite entertained watching him take apart an egotistical and arrogant press corps and not roll over in the face of attacks from the left as previous GOP politicians have done.  That aside, the guy has political cunning unlike anyone in the modern era.

Today, while the Democrats were taking their (only partially deserved) victory lap, Trump rudely rained on their parade by announcing the “resignation” of Jeff Sessions. You could literally feel the left’s celebration screech to a halt. There is zero doubt in my mind this was carefully timed out and pre-planned should the Dems take the House. And it worked. Chuck Schumer was informed in the middle of a press conference, and the look on his face was freaking priceless.  As it sank in, various Dems ran to the microphone to stammer out mostly warnings about the Mueller investigation, and of course “demand” that Trump’s interim replacement recuse himself immediately because of a hypothetical scenario he talked about years ago. That’s all to be dismissed, because the left would demand recusal if Trump appointed Jesus. Maybe especially if Trump appointed Jesus. Anyway, it was fascinating to watch the evolution of the left’s dismay this afternoon as they realized what Trump had really done to them. He stole their moment in the sun. He immediately dumped a whole new set of worries on them; Will Whitaker derail the Mueller probe? Worse yet, will Whitaker OPEN some investigations into Hillary, Obama, Holder, et al? Trump’s Tweet about opening Senate investigations if the Dems opened House investigations just grew a serious set of teeth. To add insult to injury, he did something that this new House majority cannot do a damn thing about. With all the recesses and holidays coming up, it’s almost certain any new nomination won’t be considered until the new GOP expanded majority has taken office after the first of the year.

Wolfchase and the Hoodies

Sounds like a cool band name, Right? It’s not.  A former Memphis Commercial Appeal newspaper reporter recently got butthurt after being detained at Memphis’ biggest mall, Wolfchase Galleria. The CA’s Ryan Poe reported the story, which is so full of misrepresentation of the facts, outright untruths, and misunderstandings of the law that it may take a somewhat lengthy post to debunk them all.

Here’s the story: https://www.commercialappeal.com/story/news/local/the-901/2018/11/05/wolfchase-galleria-enforces-unfair-no-hoodie-policy-leading-arrests-9-01/1804568002/

As you can see, the headline clearly telegraphs the bias to follow. Kevin McKenzie’s story reads like the narrative of Rosa Parks, Dr. King, or the travails of Spartacus. Fact is McKenize simply showed his ignorance and got arrested for it. Legally.  Let’s dissect this farce line by line, shall we?

A moment’s hesitation as I continued to hold my phone up earned me an order to leave. Within seconds, a white Memphis police officer stepped in to tell me I would be arrested if I didn’t leave. Before I could respond, he twisted my arms behind me and placed me in handcuffs and marched me down the escalator to a back office at the mall.

Mr. Mackenzie, why does it matter what race the officer is? From the video I saw, he was in the minority of officers. Race-bait much? So, you got arrested. Let’s examine why a bit later.

Along the way, I argued that the mall’s hoodie policy was discriminatory. The officers argued that the mall, run by Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group, is private property and sets its own rules.

But it wasn’t Simon or Wolfchase guards enforcing the mall policies. The Memphis police officers making arrests were off-duty and moonlighting, I was told. But they are taxpayer-trained and equipped, wear their MPD uniforms while working for the mall and claim the same authority as any police officer.

And just how was it discriminatory? You apparently saw ONE (1) incident that happened to involve black subjects. From that you paint with a pretty broad brush. Yes, the officers are tax-payer trained and equipped. However, the off duty employment of police officers has been in place for decades. It costs the taxpayers nothing, and in this case keeps the MPD and SCSO from having to pay overtime to patrol the mall, like they did a couple of Christmases ago when the thugs ran wild over there. Oh, and point of fact: They DO have the same authority as a police officer. Because they ARE, even off-duty as per state law. One doesn’t check one’s police credentials or authority at the precinct door on the way out. That’s another reason businesses like to hire off-duty officers. They may enforce any rule the private company sets.

They use public trespass law as the teeth to enforce this hoodie policy.

Nope. The subjects in question were told to leave because they violated the dress code, which the mall as a private entity has every right to set. They left, then returned in direct violation of TCA 39-14-405. The arrests were for criminal trespass. not a hoodie. Nice try. If they had just removed the hoodie, then all would have been well. If YOU had left or simply put away the phone when asked, you would have been fine as well…but then you couldn’t play so much of a victim.

In a predominantly African American area like Memphis and Shelby County, it clearly disproportionately targets young black men.

This comment defies reason, and is self-contradictory. Ya think? In a city that’s about 70-30 black, doesn’t it follow that police-citizen interactions would run, oh…I don’t know…about 70-30 black? Math is hard when you’re playing the victim.

Mr. Mackenzie was also told to stop recording the interaction – something the police on the street cannot do, but certainly can enforce a private company’s prohibition of same. He was told to leave. He didn’t. See above.

The Commercial Appeal’s Ryan Poe jumped on the bandwagon with the following:

The mall’s actions will probably alienate its already diminishing customer base — which is unfortunate, considering a mall closure would be a loss for the community. If the mall operators are smart, they’ll renounce the policy, reverse the bans, and instruct its contracted Memphis police officers and sheriff’s deputies to take a bottle of chill pills.

I’m not sure where Ryan Poe really lives or how long he’s been covering that city, since the CA is now an absentee paper with no real ties to Memphis, but this is a totally misinformed comment, and it’s worse if he lives here, especially if it’s been for a long time…

Perhaps Ryan has forgotten or doesn’t remember what killed the Mall of Memphis? Well…crime. It wasn’t called the Mall of Murder for nothing. Here’s a clue. The “diminishing customer base” is due in part to the fact that shoppers, both black and white, don’t want to intermingle with a bunch of thugs roaming the mall looking for trouble. If the mall operators are TRULY smart, they’ll double down on this policy and make their paying customers feel safe when they shop. Perhaps he’s also forgotten the numerous instances at WG including a shooting before this policy was implemented. I’m sorry…but the cold, hard fact is these crimes aren’t being committed by adults from Germantown. It’s the predominately black youth with gang ties making life miserable for the honest citizens.  Remember the story of Peabody Place? It was a downtown cinema, shopping, eatery “mall” in the heart of the FedEx Forum area. The thug and unaccompanied minors issue got so bad the MPD asked the Sheriff’s Office for additional manpower. Apparently the SCSO didn’t play, because they cleaned it out…but got complaints from the politicians. So they left. So did Peabody Place a few short years later.

There are plenty of issues in this country where you can link arms and sing “We Shall Overcome”. This isn’t one. Grow up.

Once more into the breach…

So, I had a blog a few years ago. I had a number of followers and gained some regional attention, not that that’s why I did it…but I found it was consuming too much mental and actual time. So, I left the blogosphere…But in today’s cultural climate, I just can’t resist, and Twitter’s character limit is too short to dismantle the left’s expansive lunacy. So, here I am again, but don’t expect daily updates. My favorite topics are the sad state of today’s left and the mental illness that seems to be sweeping the left worldwide, police matters, technology (I was an electronic intel contractor for many years. Lots of places, and many stories I cannot tell), and calling out local and regional politicians in and around West Tennessee. You’re welcome to comment, but at your own risk.
